SMHS Students at an Event
Conditionally Admitted Students

Some programs require conditionally admitted students to meet with the Office of Student Support during their matriculation. This is an informal meeting that will introduce you to our office and make sure that you are aware of the services and resources offered by OSS to help you in your academic journey. If you have received this notice, please contact SMHSstudents [at] gwu [dot] edu to schedule a meeting with us.

OSS Syllabus Statement

The Office of Student Support has developed a syllabus statement that faculty can include in course materials, Blackboard announcements, and other communications with students. Please use the language below to make students aware of OSS:

--

School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Office of Student Support (OSS)

OSS supports student success in the School of Medicine and Health Sciences by providing one-on-one academic support, access to a dedicated SMHS writing coach, learning style assessment tools, as well as resources related to test-taking skills, time management skills, personal wellness, and professional development. All services offered by OSS are free to students.

Please contact OSS at SMHSstudents [at] gwu [dot] edu (SMHSstudents[at]gwu[dot]edu)

or visit the Office website at oss.smhs.gwu.edu for additional information.

Referrals to OSS from Faculty, Staff, and Students

Students can be referred to OSS either via email to SMHSstudents [at] gwu [dot] edu or by completing our online referral form. Students can be referred to us by faculty, staff, or themselves (self-referral).

Referrals from OSS to other GW offices

If students need assistance with matters beyond the scope of the Office of Student Support, our team will facilitate introductions to other resources available at GW. Often, we will support students as they connect with offices such as Disability Support Services, the Student Accounts Office, or the Military & Veterans Services Office. If you are ever unsure where to turn, our office is happy to help!
